THE BIG MOUNTAIN BIKE CELEBRATION RETURNS TO MONT-SAINTE-ANNE

Revamped track, program and experience to stage the World Series finals

August 22, 2023

_

From October 5 to 9, Mont-Sainte-Anne will vibrate to the rhythm of the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup: a sporting event that has transformed the mountain into a veritable biking haven for over 30 years! The event formerly known as Vélirium is changing production teams this year, but retains the same electrifying atmosphere, bringing together the world's best cyclists, enthusiastic families, and fans for a long weekend of celebration that will once again make Côte-de-Beaupré history!

The 2023 edition: a return of the legendary courses

An iconic course on the world circuit, the legendary Mont-Sainte-Anne descent remains a highlight of the event. Elite athletes take to the track on Saturday, October 7, while juniors start on Friday, October 6. Recognized as one of the most demanding events, this individual time trial promises a succession of fast and technical sections, with rocks, jumps, roots and bumps. This year, athletes will start from the terrace of the summit chalet, offering fans a breathtaking view of the race start.

Olympic and short track cross-country fans will be able to watch the world's best athletes in action on Thursday and Friday, October 5 and 6 (short track - XCC), and on Sunday, October 8 (Olympic - XCO). Spectators can look forward to action-packed moments on the tracks reinvented by the experts at Velosolutions Canada. The XCC competition will take place on a brand-new, ultra-fast, wide and flowy circuit, offering a tight race where speed and strategy will be key to securing a place on the podium. The spectator area, in the middle of the course, will allow everyone to follow the race from the heart of the action. Sunday's XCO competition, meanwhile, will be held on an intense, technical course that is sure to challenge the athletes. The new route includes some long-forgotten sections, as well as new trails. New this year will be the Les Nains de Jardin section, offering plenty of technical challenges and allowing spectators to follow the race over four downhill and uphill slab sections.

The party continues on Thanksgiving Monday

Monday's competitions will be the grand finale of the long Thanksgiving weekend, with a special event for future champions aged 2 to 12, the KIDOVELO presented by Desjardins, as well as a Mont-Sainte-Anne first: a UCI Pump Track Qualifier presented by Rocky Mountain. The Elite winners (aged 17 and over) of this competition will fly to Patagonia, Argentina, in November 2023 to take part in the World Championships. The competition is also open to two junior categories (11-12 and 13-16). Registration for the KIDOVÉLO and the UCI Pump Track Qualifiers are now open on the event website.

A program beyond the races!

This year, an indoor lounge will host the after-races parties presented by Boréale, providing a dynamic and enchanting atmosphere. Guest DJs, including Newbleach, Super Plage and Dadpaq, will take it in turns to liven up the Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings until 1am. The Exhibitors' Village, located at the foot of the mountain, will welcome around a hundred mountain bike, sports and outdoor companies, as well as event partners, from Friday to Sunday. The technical teams that accompany the top UCI World Series athletes will also be on site.

Enthusiasts looking for 100% adventure can camp just a few steps from the mountain, for an unforgettable immersive experience. Campground reservations can only be made online.
